The Role

Reporting to Vantage’s Senior Director, Commercial Performance, the General Manager will provide overall leadership to the Amtrak project at the 30th Street Station and has accountability for implementation of the comprehensive Concession Management Plan, and the overall financial performance of the business.  As General Manager, you will use your people and business skills to create an environment that inspires all stakeholders, including customers, concession partners/tenants, and employees. With your enthusiastic approach and commitment to excellence, you will drive sales, deliver a superior customer experience, and manage an array of concession partners and tenants.

The General Manager will coordinate business operations, support construction and leasing efforts, drive sales performance through the implementation of KPIs; monitor and motivate concession partners; manage operational costs and budget management; formulate policies and procedures that ensure exemplary customer service and effective administration; and monitor financial activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a collaborative liaison to the with multiple stakeholders, including the PIP Development Team partners as well as Amtrak, and community stakeholders, to bring the proposed concession program to life – from concepts, to designs, construction, training and on-time opening of the different phases
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with PIP Development Team to effectively perform Vantage’s responsibilities and ensure partners are also performing as required per the agreements between the relevant parties
  • Oversee operations, development, and reporting activities consistent with the Concessions Management Plan (CMP) and revise the CMP bi-annually for approval by stakeholders in conjunction with Vantage’s Corporate Team
  • Collaborate on negotiations and contract management strategies for new leases and renegotiation of existing leases
  • Develop and apply best-in-class concession management techniques and programs to monitor and improve performance of the concession program to maximize revenue opportunities and enhance the customer experience at the station
  • Ensure proper lease management, including payables, receivables and the timely calculation, billing and receipt of operating expense escalations and common area maintenance recoveries
  • Foster a performance driven culture with respect to commercial operations; introduce and monitor commercial performance by establishing and using suitable Key Performance Indicators benchmarked against other comparable facilities
  • Work collaboratively with concession partners and tenants to ensure their operations are compliant with applicable standards, laws and legislation
  • Contribute to the preparation of the Operational, Readiness and Transition Plan (ORAT) to be implemented as concession program transitions from construction to operations and throughout the lifetime of the project
  • Develop and implement dynamic concession plans, and promotional programs to achieve maximum performance, drive annual sales growth and increase revenues
  • Work collaboratively with concession partners and tenants to ensure their operations are compliant with applicable standards, laws and legislation
  • Develop annual business plans and partner with Vantage Finance Department to create annual budgets as it relates to the concessions business at 30th Street Station
  • Lead, engage, and implement personal and team development plans for the 30th Street Station based commercial team
  • Work to drive optimal results, encourage strong employee morale and create a positive workplace culture to ensure a world class customer experience
  • In collaboration with Vantage’s Corporate team, develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and communication protocols to ensure appropriate groups are made aware of issues.
  • Work collaboratively, leveraging the broader Vantage network to ensure development of the team and performance of the 30th Street Station program is maximized
  • Manage the performance of third-party service providers contracted by Vantage
  • Create, introduce and manage strategies and systems to understand the current travel retail & food and beverage environment, trends and influences on customer buying patterns with a view to product range development and increased revenue
  • Other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position may be assigned.

Primary Qualifications

5 years of related experience in experience in a food & beverage, retail operations or other multi-unit management environment, with a demonstrated ability to provide leadership and management to direct and indirect reports. Ideally, you have previous experience in the development and implementation of concession programs or management of multi-unit operations.
