We are excited to be part of another significant redevelopment project.  As part of JFK Millennium Partners (“JMP”), the preferred partner of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Vantage has been selected to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain Terminal 6 and 7 at John F. Kennedy (“JFK”) International Airport. For this project, Vantage has partnered with American Triple I (ATI), a 100% minority and woman owned investor and developer, and RXR Realty, a leading New York commercial real estate development firm, with AECOM Hunt as the design-build team. The project is to proceed in two phases of construction, with the first phase to include the development of the new Terminal 6 headhouse and departures area on a vacant site adjacent to the existing Terminal 7.  Once that has been completed, JMP will demolish the existing Terminal 7 and construct an additional five gates, after which, JMP would then manage, operate and maintain the new facilities.


The Role

The Shift Manager provides leadership for the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) Coordinators for Terminal 7 and directs and participates in the operations of the terminal building and related facilities, including concourses, gate areas and ramps.  The Shift Manager is responsible for ensuring the systems, processes, policies and procedures are in place to ensure terminal, with a focus on ramp activities, and curbside operations are safe and efficient while promoting a world-class guest experience.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and guidance to IOC Coordinators
  • Monitors to ensure ramp activities are effective and efficient and GHA performance is at appropriate level and intervenes as required
  • Directs and participates in the operations of terminal buildings, including concourses, terminals, gate areas, ramp areas, concession areas, interior and exterior of buildings, sidewalks, and public access roadways to assure the safety, security and efficiency of terminal and ground transportation operations
  • Monitors the activities of tenants, licensees, maintenance, and security personnel during assigned shift, to ensure compliance with airport terminal standards and regulations;
  • In collaboration with the safety and security function, reviews and acts on operational problems involving terminal safety, security, federal certification and related matters as they impact the airlines, tenants, passengers and the general public
  • Resolves operational problems by ordering actions or notifying appropriate airport, airline or security personnel
  • Reviews reports of problems or incidents and recommends and implements appropriate remedy
  • In emergency situations, coordinates terminal activities with police and other emergency personnel during incidents and while returning the terminal to normal operation.
  • Develops and implements program to maintain records of all incidents
  • Other duties as required or assigned from time to time.


Education and qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years in an operations, administration or customer service role, preferably in an aviation or airport setting
  • Experience working effectively in a regulated environment
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college of university with a focus on aviation management or business administration preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communications combined with critical thinking skills
  • Organization and planning skills crucial for multi-tasking while prioritizing and executing tasks
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and diffuse and manage situations
